CHANGE GEAR IN JUST 0.15 SECONDS
The longer a gear change takes, the less time power is being put onto the road. So for maximum acceleration, the GT-R's paddle-shift six-speed sequential dual-clutch transmission performs gear changes in just 0.15 seconds when in R-Mode - almost as fast as a blink of an eye.

TWIN-TURBO ENGINE
Nissan challenged convention at every point of the GT-R’s development, starting with an incredibly advanced engine.
555PS VR38 TWIN-TURBO ENGINE
The GT-R’s award-winning 3.8-litre V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine now delivers 555PS at 6800 rpm and 632Nm of torque, representing an increase of 20PS and 5Nm, courtesy of individual ignition-timing control of the cylinders and extra boost from the turbochargers.
IHI INTEGRATED TURBOCHARGER
An IHI turbocharger is mounted on each bank of the engine. By combining the exhaust manifold and turbocharger into a single unit, the intake and exhaust gas flow is optimised. A larger intercooler is installed for more efficient cooling, while high-precision electronic controls ensure there is no turbo lag as torque rises.

TWO CLUTCHES. NO CLUTCH PEDAL.
A lightning-quick shift. Inside Nissan GT-R's six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the clutches work together. When the car is in an odd-numbered gear (1st, 3rd, 5th), the even-numbered gear (2nd, 4th, 6th) is pre-selected and ready to make the shift immediately. The transmission is so smart, it even blips the throttle on downshifts to for smoother gear changes.
THE BEAUTY OF THE MIDSHIP PLATFORM
BRAKES
In another break with convention, Nissan GT-R’s premium midship platform places the engine further back in the chassis for better handling. This unique layout also mounts the transmission with the transfer case in the rear of the Nissan GT-R, creating the world’s first independent rear transaxle for an All-Wheel Drive vehicle.
TRACK-READY BRAKING
6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers are machined from a one-piece “monoblock” of aluminium for extreme rigidity with light weight. Cross-drilled rotors feature diamond-shaped ventilation ribs, while a full-floating rotor allows the outer disc to expand away from the hub, helping reduce the tendency of the rotor to warp.

FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE
The GT-R combines massive performance with the refinement of a true Grand Touring machine. The suspension filters out bumps and noise while still telling you everything you need to know. Steering effort Is reduced at lower speeds for easier in-town manoeuvring, while still delivering the precision you want. It all adds up to giving you the feeling of absolute confidence as you charge out of a corner with 555 PS and supreme control at your fingertips.
Dynamic Balance
Some consider a static 50/50 weight distribution to be perfect for handling. However, Nissan engineers have discovered that a 54 front/46 rear static ratio Is ideal. When under hard acceleration, the weight distribution shifts rearward and becomes an approximate 50/50 balance. This translates into enhanced tyre contact for better acceleration, quicker corner and the sublime handling feel that the GT-R is renowned for.
FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE
Instead of the traditional 50:50 torque split between front and rear axles, the Nissan GT-R supercar has an electronically controlled Four-Wheel Drive system that provides up to 100% of available torque to the rear wheels, but can send up to 50% of this power to the front wheels if needed. This provides the excellent steering feel and response, with the added confidence that only a Four-Wheel Drive can offer. Additionally, Nissan’s Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) continuously monitors your steering and braking, senses any oversteer or understeer, and compensates by reducing engine speed and applying the brakes to specific wheels as required.
THE ART OF AIRFLOW
AERODYNAMICS
Relentless tuning of the GT-R’s aerodynamics provides more consistent downforce, while maintaining its incredibly clean 0.26 Coefficient of Drag.
FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE
The average car has exposed working gear underneath, creating lift and drag and slowing you down. The Nissan GT-R, of course, isn’t an average car. Its underbody is covered by composite panels, giving it a flat, aerodynamic surface.
MAKING PERFORMANCE OUT OF THIN AIR
That big spoiler and all those scoops and vents aren’t just there to look cool – they’re all doing something. The spoiler is creating downforce. Those ridges on the air dam and vents on the back bumper are managing air flow towards the rear. The vents behind the front fenders are cooling the brakes and creating more downforce, and the scoops on the bonnet and the signature grille are cooling the engine.
UNDERBODY AERODYNAMICS
At the front of the car, the flat underbody is accelerating the air and channeling it over the brakes, cooling them down. At the back, a carbon-fibre diffuser takes that accelerated air and slows it down, creating a vacuum effect that helps the Nissan GT-R stick to the road, or the track.
