How e-4ORCE works?
e-4ORCE combines the power of dual front and rear electric motors with brake control to manage all four wheels independently. This advanced system enhances driving confidence for both the driver and passengers on any road.
It delivers strong performance with superior stability, ensuring control in all conditions. Intelligent torque distribution enables smooth braking and reduces cabin vibrations, while the system continuously calculates the driving force required for cornering, acceleration, and deceleration.
During Cornering
The system calculates the driving force required for turning, accelerating, and decelerating to match the driver’s intent, adapting to changing driving conditions and road surfaces. It controls all four wheels through front and rear motors, as well as left and right brake inputs. Even on challenging curves or slippery surfaces, the system maintains optimal stability and ensures the vehicle responds precisely as intended.
During Deceleration
When the accelerator is released, the front and rear motors work together to regenerate power and decelerate the vehicle in a balanced manner. This prevents the pitching effect that occurs when braking with only the front wheels, delivering smooth, stable deceleration and a comfortable ride for passengers. The system also continuously monitors wheel slippage and automatically adjusts the level of regenerative braking to suit road conditions, enhancing safety in every situation.
During Initial Acceleration
Leveraging the motor’s ability to precisely control torque based on the driver’s accelerator input, the system delivers smooth and powerful starts—even on wet or flooded roads. It quickly detects any wheel slippage and adjusts the driving force to maintain stability and maximize traction, ensuring confident performance in all driving conditions.
Technology Mechanism
A tire’s grip constantly changes with driving conditions and road surface, and it varies for each wheel. e-4ORCE detects even the slightest slippage and continuously evaluates each wheel’s grip while driving. It then calculates the optimal driving force for cornering, acceleration, and braking based on driver input, and controls the front and rear motors together with the left and right brakes in an integrated manner to ensure all four wheels perform at maximum efficiency.
Compared to conventional mechanical four-wheel-drive systems, which are limited to a fixed 50:50 distribution of driving force between the front and rear wheels, e-4ORCE uses separate motors for the front and rear wheels, allowing each wheel to adjust its driving force independently—from 100:0 to 0:100. When combined with brake control, the system can also regulate the left and right wheels with exceptional speed and precision.
Cornering Control
In energy-saving mode, the system primarily uses the front wheels for driving force when moving straight. However, when cornering to maintain vehicle stability, it adds driving force to the rear wheels to help ensure steady turning. This added force is minimal, allowing the vehicle to remain stable and move smoothly through the curve.
Brake Control
Brake control is applied to all four wheels on winding roads to support the driver's intended cornering path.
