Nissan wins Best CSR Contribution Award for its longstanding support to Thai society
Marked by Chiang Rai flood relief efforts
Bangkok, Thailand (November 20, 2024) - Nissan Thailand has been recognized for its outstanding community support with the prestigious Best CSR Contribution award presented at the Car of the Year Awards Ceremony by Thai Automotive Journalists Association (TAJA). The award highlights Nissan's long-standing commitment to social responsibility over its 71 years in Thailand through its impactful initiatives, including the recent response to the historic flood disaster in Chiang Rai.
In the aftermath of the province's worst flood disaster, Nissan Thailand and its dealers provided recovery efforts and donated essential supplies to Mai Lung Khon Community School and Friendship 169 School in Mae Sai District. Additionally, they donated vital items through the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office in Chiang Rai to aid ongoing recovery operations.
The assistance from Nissan and its dealers began immediately when the province was first hit by the flood and continued after the waters receded. Nissan Angel Way Chiang Rai, the local dealer, launched several flood relief efforts, including donations of essential items such as drinking water, food, medicine, and everyday supplies. The dealer also set up a bottle donation drive, where bottles were later filled with cleaning liquid and distributed to flood-affected families. Some of its showrooms were converted into rescue centers, providing food, water, and flood relief packages to those in need. Additionally, the dealer allowed affected residents to park their motorcycles and cars at the showroom locations that were not flooded.
Toshihiro Fujiki, President of Nissan Thailand and ASEAN, led a team of employees to Chiang Rai, partnering with Nissan Angel Way’s management to donate essential items to the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office in Chiang Rai. A Nissan Navara caravan navigated through mud to deliver donated items, including learning materials, sports equipment, cooking utensils, basic electrical appliances, and flood relief packages, to Mai Lung Khon Community School in Mae Sai District. This effort aimed to help villagers and students resume their daily lives and studies as quickly as possible.
In addition, Nissan and its dealers launched a special promotion offering up to 30% off on parts, chemicals, lubricants, and accessories, as well as free transportation to the nearest Nissan service center for post-flood maintenance. The promotion runs until December 31, 2024.
These efforts are part of Nissan’s “Nissan Cares for You” policy, which has guided the company’s support for communities in Thailand for the past 71 years.
