Nissan continues its commitment to environmental protection, supporting the 'Fire Hawk' forest fire task force for the fifth consecutive year to tackle wildfires and air pollution
CHIANG MAI, THAILAND (7 April 2026) – Nissan Thailand continues its commitmentto forest fire prevention and suppression efforts that directly contribute to reducing PM2.5air pollution. The company recently donated essential supplies to support the Fire Hawk Team of the Department of Forestry at the Chiang Mai Forest Fire Control Extension Center, enhancing their operational efficiency in protecting forest areas in Chiang Mai province and across Northern Thailand.
This marks the fifth consecutive year of Nissan Thailand’s support. Previously, the company provided its Nissan Navara pickup truck, known for its power and reliability, enabling frontline officers to access remote hotspots more quickly and transport critical equipment efficiently in challenging and remote terrains.
This year, Nissan Thailand and its partners, including a local dealer, donated portable solar-powered charging units to the Chiang Mai Forest Fire Control Extension Center. These units support computers, mobile phones, cameras, radios, and other essential electrical equipment used by officers working in mountainous areas, where over 80% of wildfire hotspots are located deep within forests. In addition, the company contributed rice, dried food, and other necessary supplies to further support officers operating in remote areas.
Through this ongoing initiative, Nissan Thailand also supports the government’s goal of reducing burned areas nationwide by at least 10% compared to the previous year, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and cleaner air for Thai communities.
Takaaki Yanagi, Senior Vice President, Nissan Thailand, said, “After working closely with the Chiang Mai Forest Fire Control Extension Center for five years, we understand how demanding and challenging this mission is. We recognize what frontline officers trulyneed and have provided equipment that best supports their operations. We hope oursupport not only enhances their efficiency and convenience, but also reassures them thatwe stand firmly behind them, enabling them to carry out their duties with confidence.”
Nuchit Chantapoon, Director of the Chiang Mai Forest Fire Control Extension Center, said, “Forest fire prevention and suppression is extremely challenging work. It requires physical and mental strength, perseverance, and strong commitment, as our officers operate deep in the forest with limited resources and facilities. Nissan’s support, based on a clear understanding of our needs, is invaluable. It strengthens our capabilitiesand encourages us to continue protecting the environment and ensuring cleaner air for everyone.”
Julanit Wangviwat, Managing Director, Siam Nissan Chiang Mai added, “As localresidents directly affected by the annual forest fires, we fully understand the impact of this issue. We are proud to take part in this initiative, which we have supported for several years. We sincerely thank the frontline officers for their dedication and commitment, and Nissan Thailand for leading this meaningful mission and allowing us to contribute to the betterment of Thai society.”
Beyond donating essential supplies, employees of Nissan Thailand and its local dealer also built a check dam in Ban Mae Takhrai, Chiang Mai, in 2024. The check dam remains in good condition and continues to retain water during the rainy season, helping prevent soilerosion, maintain soil moisture, and promote sustainable vegetation growth in the area.
