Leveragingthe durability and functionality of the Nissan Navara pickup trucks, the partnershipstrengthens the support for tiger conservation initiatives, a cornerstone of long-termecosystem restoration in Thailand.
Since 2024, Nissan Thailand has supported WWF Thailand’s nationwide wildlifeconservation and biodiversity initiatives by deploying Nissan Navara pickup trucks to assistfield operations led by WWF and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and PlantConservation (DNP). This year, Nissan further reinforces its commitment by providingessential supplies to the rangers, including dry food provisions and solar-powered energystations to support camera trap systems and signal transmission, along with other criticalequipment used in tiger population monitoring efforts and regular patrol operations.
Mr. Takaaki Yanagi, Senior Vice President, Nissan Thailand, said, “At Nissan Thailand,we are committed to enriching people’s lives and advancing the communities we serve. Ourpartnership with WWF Thailand reflects our broader commitment to sustainable developmentand long-term social impact. We are proud that the Nissan Navara – with its durability andfunctionality – can play a practical role in enabling conservation efforts, supporting field operations in challenging terrains, and contributing to the resilience of Thailand’s naturalecosystems.”
The Nissan Navara PRO-4X, known as “Ton-Prom-Lui”, which means durable, agile, andpowerful, has played a key role in WWF’s wildlife conservation missions. Equipped with 190horsepower (PS) and 450 Nm of torque, a four-wheel-drive system, advanced driverassistance and safety technologies, and a high payload capacity enabled by its fully boxed,single-piece steel frame, the Navara PRO-4X is well-suited for demanding fieldwork. Itsstrength and versatility make it ideal for research, data collection, and conservation activitiesin challenging environments, including mountainous terrain, dense forests, streams, wetlands, and rugged landscapes.
Dr. Rungnapa Phoonjampa, Wildlife Conservation Lead, WWF Thailand, said, “AtWWF Thailand, we deeply appreciate partners such as Nissan Thailand who share our long-term conservation vision. The Western Forest Complex is one of Thailand’s most ecologicallysignificant landscapes, home to the country’s largest tiger population, and characterized bychallenging terrain that tests researchers and rangers alike. With the support of Nissan, ourteams are better equipped to access remote areas, strengthening field operations andaccelerating efforts to restore the tiger population. The impact of this collaboration extendsbeyond Thailand, contributing to renewed hope for the recovery of the Indochinese tigerpopulation.”
Komsan Maneekarn, Forestry Technical Officer, Professional Level, and Head of MaeWong National Park, said, “We sincerely appreciate Nissan Thailand for its continuedsupport. Our work is highly demanding, as we are responsible for protecting a vast andcomplex forest area with limited accessibility and rugged terrain. Our teams often spend daysin the forest under challenging conditions, with minimal facilities or conveniences. Supportfrom private sector partners who recognize the importance of our mission not only enhancesour operational capabilities but also provides meaningful encouragement that inspires us tocontinue safeguarding our natural heritage.”
Through its continued collaboration with WWF Thailand, Nissan Thailand reaffirms its long-term commitment to Thailand, supporting not only environmental sustainability, but alsothe well-being of communities nationwide. By advancing tiger conservation in the UpperWestern Forest Complex, the partnership helps drive ecosystem restoration, acceleratebiodiversity recovery, and create lasting benefits for generations to come.
