Nissan provides tough & durable Navara pickups to support WWF’s forest preservation and wildlife rehabilitation mission

• Nissan Navara PRO-4X makes mission through deep forest on challenging routes easier at Kaeng Krung National Park and Mae Wong-Khlong Lan National Park
  
• Salt lick made for wildlife in Kaeng Krung National Park, Surat Thani

BANGKOK, Thailand (27 September 2024) - Nissan supported World Wildlife Fund (WWF)’s nature conservation mission with 2 Nissan Navara PRO-4X powerful and durable pickup trucks. Nissan team also visit Kaeng Krung National Park in Surat Thani joining WWF to build a salt lick for wildlife.

Varit Pakdeeyingyong, Vice President – Sales, Nissan Thailand, said, “Apart from our mission to enrich people’s life and mobility, Nissan, realizing our responsibility as the member of Thai society for over the past 71 years, has taken many environmental conservation initiatives. From supporting the Fire Hawk Team under the Department of Forestry in their forest fire prevention and management activities in the North, we are now expanding our mission to other regions through cooperation with WWF. Nissan hopes our  high performance vehicles enable WWF teams to travel more conveniently on tough route to areas with low accessibility deep into the forest. We also hope that our support will help people in the front line to achieve their great mission for the betterment of Thai people, and the better world.”

Nissan provided WWF with two Nissan Navara PRO-4X for six months. The pickup trucks, known for its “Ton Prom Lui” qualities or toughness & durability, utility & technology, and driving performance, will be used in WWF’s research, protection and rehabilitation of the forests and wildlife. Among other tasks is the equipment transport for camera trap installation to collect data about number of animals and behavior, and for drone imaging to survey and monitor changes in forest area and risk of forest encroachment.

Nissan Navara fits perfectly with the tough forest conservation, research and data collection mission in challenging geographical area with high mountains, tough dirt roads, watershed forest area, small streams, etc. thanks to its high performance powered by the 2.3 liter twin-turbocharged engine, full box frame chassis, ability to go anywhere take any challenges or the unexpected, excellent payload, easy loading and unloading, cabin comfort, and outstanding safety technology.

In this mission, Nissan team and representatives from local dealership also joined WWF in making salt licks for wild animals in Kaeng Krung National Park, which has many species of rare wild animals like wild elephants, tigers, bears, bulls, Banteng, Tapir, birds, etc. The salt lick will help promote wild animal’s health and biodiversity.

Thanasin Yimnoi, Project Manager, Eyes on the forest project, World Wide Fund For Nature Thailand (WWF), said, “Nissan’s support has increased convenience for WWF team to travel on challenging routes more conveniently and quickly, even during the rainy season when travel is more difficult. With Nissan’s powerful truck, it allows for faster and more efficient data collection to support forest and wildlife conservation plans. The progress of WWF's operations not only benefits local communities and Thailand but also contributes to the ecological sustainability of the region and provides valuable reference information for conservation efforts worldwide.

Mr. Kirati Phatthong, Superintendent of Kaeng Krung National Park, Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, said, “Wildlife and plant conservation is tough and requires high commitment. It is hard for other people to see how hard we work. The support from Nissan and WWF is an admirable example of integrated efforts from the private sector to use their expertise to help us carrying out natural resource conservation in a more efficient manner. At the same time, everyone working on the frontline will be cheered up knowing that their works for the sustainability of Thailand and global natural resource are appreciated by others.”

WWF uses the other Nissan Navara PRO-4X in the Tiger & Prey recovery program in Upper WEFCOM to do a research and collect information about the forest and wild animal like tigers and other wildlife species at Mae Wong-Khlong Lan National Park in Kamphaeng Phet province. The national park is one of a significant areas as it borders the Thung Yai Wildlife Sanctuary – Huay Kha Khaeng that has been registered as the Natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and is home to the largest number of tigers in Southeast Asia. Nissan Navara is used in similar tasks of transporting the research team and equipment through high mountains, on rough roads and through streams to collect data and perform other tasks under the Tiger & Prey recovery program.

Such support is part of Nissan Thailand’s commitment to supporting its partners in environmental preservation in Thailand.
