NISSAN STRENGTHENS PRODUCTION HUB IN THAILAND

Bangkok, 9 October 2020 – In response to increased demand for Thailand-produced vehicles, Nissan is ramping up production in its manufacturing facilities in Samut Prakan. The company aims to hire over 2,000 people at its production hub in ASEAN.

"The increase of production comes on the heels of growing export business, in particular for the Nissan Kicks e-POWER and Nissan Navara. Within Thailand, we also see strong demand for the all-new Nissan Almera, the intelligent urban sedan, and the Kicks e-POWER," said Ramesh Narasimhan, president of Nissan in Thailand.

The Nissan plants near Bangkok are exporting to more than 100 countries worldwide. Nissan recently made a multi-billion Thai baht investments enabling production of e-POWER technology in Thailand, as the first location outside Japan. e-POWER is Nissan’s proprietary technology that gives customers the electric vehicle driving experience without the need to charge. The Thailand facilities produce the Kicks e-POWER for the domestic market, as well as for customers in Japan, Singapore and Indonesia.

“The increased demand for Thailand-made vehicles demonstrates the quality of our team and our products. Nissan’s investment and additional job creation will positively contribute towards the automotive supply chain and the Thai economy,” said Narasimhan.

Nissan will continue to follow the advice and guidance of the government to safeguard the wellbeing of employees, customers and the community during the pandemic. This includes adhering to social distance guidelines and implementing health and safety measures on the work floor.
