All-new Nissan Almera’s 1.0 liter Turbo engine delivers outstanding performance for urban living
New powertrain delivers strong fuel economy with low CO2 emissions
BANGKOK, Thailand (24 December 2019) – The 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine in the all-new Nissan Almera delivers high performance and great fuel economy with low CO2 emissions, making it perfect for the modern urban Thai lifestyle.
The new 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine is designed to better meet customer needs and aligns with the global trend of downsizing engines while providing more power and fuel efficiency.
“We have received so much positive feedback from media and customers after the great success of the all-new Almera’s public launch and debut at the recent 2019 Motor Expo,” said Ramesh Narasimhan, president of Nissan Motor Thailand.. “The new 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine gives our Thai customers the highest levels of performance and refinement, while reducing CO2 emissions and without compromising on engine reliability and durability.”
The new 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine offers an improved response with a smoother pull-away and better in-gear acceleration, with equal output to a 1,500cc engine. Benefits of this upgrade are more power and more torque right across the RPM scale.
Drivers will feel the power of its speedy acceleration and electric waste gate to control intake and output of the turbo engine, resulting in better lag time plus improved durability of the engine. The all-new Almera’s lighter 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine delivers a maximum power output of 100 PS, torque of 152 Nm and fuel consumption of 23.3 kilometers per liter.
The new powertrain comes with ‘Xtronic automatic’ which is an advanced Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) unit. This intelligent variable gear system helps to increase acceleration and decrease fuel consumption with improved D-Step Logic mode to reduce the cycle shift. Transmission is smooth, seamless and easy and fun to drive.
Apart from improved engine performance, the new 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine features a number of technical innovations. These include Turbocharger with electronically controlled waste plus Mirror Bore Coating Technology on the cylinders which is adapted from the Nissan GT-R technology. Theses increase durability, reduce wear and tear and helps with heat management, making every drive economical and environmentally mindful.
The new 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine uses and air intercooler system to the cool air compressed by the Turbocharger. The intercooler is placed at the front of the car where wind can fully ventilate, especially when the car is running. The maintenance of an air intercooler system is easier, and the cost is less because of the fewer parts than required by liquid cooling systems.
While performance and innovations are clearly unique selling points, noise, vibration and harshness has also been reduced with the improved powertrain and road noise isolation, resulting in a quieter cabin.
“This Nissan’s new 1.0 liter turbo engine is already well positioned in Europe because it offers the perfect balance of urban performance and low running costs,” Narasimhan said. “The new powertrain of the all-new Almera is among the best-in-class and is now ready to meet the needs of our valued Thai customers who we know will enjoy the improved performance that complements the bold, modern exterior and sleek interior design of the all-new Almera."
In addition to Nissan's new 1.0 liter turbo HRA0 engine, the all-new Almera incorporates a sleek, comfortable and spacious design that leaves a lasting first impression and that drivers can be proud to be seen in, along with smart technologies to meet the needs of Nissan’s valued customers, especially young families and millennials.
Another area where the all-new Almera stands out is with its available Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies that provide front, side and rear safety monitoring and intervention.
