Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition Debuts in Thailand at 36th International Motor Expo 2019
Nissan draws on 50 years of GT-R racing history to perfect the ultimate high-performance driving machine
BANGKOK, Thailand (28 November 2019) – Nissan in Thailand is today celebrating the debut of the 50th anniversary limited edition of its iconic GT-R high-performance vehicle at the 36th International Motor Expo 2019.
The GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition will be available at 11.3 million Thai baht, complete with a car warranty that covers three years or 100,000 kilometers backed by bespoke service from Siam Nissan TKF, the exclusive Nissan High-Performance Center that provides best-in-class customer service.
“Bringing to Thailand the 50th anniversary limited edition of one of our most our iconic supercars at an attractive price is a dream for us,” said Ramesh Narasimhan, president of Nissan Motor Thailand. "We continue to focus on putting our valued Thai customers at the heart of everything we do, which includes introducing new vehicles like this from our global product line-up to Thailand."
Spectacular 50th Anniversary Celebration
The GT-R special edition will come in three heritage-era, two-tone exterior color combinations meant to represent the GT-R's liveries from the Japan GP series. Bayside Blue makes a return, complete with white racing stripes. A four-coat, double-heat treatment process ensures a vivid blue with striking highlights and deep shadows. Blue accents on the wheel spokes are among several fine touches made to celebrate the GT-R's milestone. Storm White with red stripes and Ultimate Silver with white stripes round out the 50th Anniversary liveries.
Inside the 50th Anniversary is a special grey interior scheme, which gives the cabin a sense of luxury, reminiscent of the atmosphere of the night sky after the twilight hour. Additional 50th anniversary features include a unique steering wheel and shift knob trim, special seat embossing, an Alcantara® headliner with unique stitching, Alcantara-wrapped sun visors, and more.
Spiritual Performance, Born from Racing
“With the 2020 GT-R, we kept to the car's concept to focus on pursuing the ultimate driving pleasure. Once a customer takes hold of the steering wheel, they will immediately know that no other car in the world delivers as much satisfaction to the driver, both physically and spiritually," said Hiroshi Tamura, chief product specialist for the GT-R.
While many fans believed that the refinement and performance of the GT-R's 555 Ps 632 Nm of torque 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine – each handcrafted by its own “Takumi” technician – could not be improved, the car's engineers had a few tricks up their sleeves.
This GT-R features a revised 6-speed dual-clutch transmission with a refined "R mode," suitable for both road and track. This brings a more aggressive downshift to better anticipate swift cornering, with gear selection taking place during ABS engagement, resulting in a reduced understeer and a more driver-intuitive feeling. The adaptive shift control is programmed to change shift schedules to fit the user's driving style, making it possible to drive according to the law on public roads, with full brute force available on the racetrack, without needing to manually change shift modes.
The GT-R's signature exhaust note is the product of a new titanium muffler, featuring titanium finishers with burnished blue tips.
The electronically controlled suspension has also been tuned to provide better cornering stability and a smoother ride. The steering is more linear and precise than ever, requiring minimal corrections at speeds of up to 300 kph (186 mph). A new brake booster increases the initial braking response by engaging with shorter pedal strokes, resulting in enhanced stopping ability.
A Cabin Worthy of the GT-R
The GT-R's cabin represents the perfect blend of luxury and sport. The distinct driver-oriented cockpit has comfortable yet supportive seats for both front and rear passengers. The dashboard is designed to convey a "horizontal flow," delivering a sense of high stability for front seat occupants. It comes wrapped in a single, seamless piece of hand-selected Nappa leather, artfully stitched with Takumi-style precision. The center dashboard integrates navigation and audio controls and an 8-inch touch-panel monitor. The large icons on the display screen advise on the driving experience without distracting from it.
Mounted on the sport steering wheel are shift paddles that allow drivers to change gears in mid-turn without taking their hands off the wheel.
All 2020 Nissan GT-Rs come with the integrated audio and communication system. It allows users to remotely lock or unlock the doors, activate the alarm, summon emergency services or track the car's whereabouts using smartphone apps. A premium BOSE® audio system comes with 11 high-performance speakers and Active Sound Management to make your driving experience more enjoyable.
Customers who are interested in the GT-R will also get the peace of mind that comes from Nissan's high standard of aftersales service, delivered by Siam Nissan TKF, Nissan in Thailand’s authorized GT-R dealer. With its Nissan High Performance Center designed to take care of this world-famous vehicle.

Nissan to display other popular models at the 36th International Motor Expo 2019
Apart from the launch of GT-R 50th anniversary edition, the all-new Nissan Almera is available for order at the Motor Expo, with delivery in December 2019. This intelligent urban sedan is designed with lower, wider, and longer exterior dimensions using Nissan’s 'Emotional Geometry' design language. Iconic Nissan design elements include the V-motion grille, boomerang-shaped headlamps, tail lamps, kick-up C-pillars, and floating roof.
The Almera’s new 1.0-liter turbo engine delivers greater power and better fuel efficiency, and is more powerful and lighter. This results in better acceleration from flat torque and better power output than previous generations of Almera.
“The new Almera leaves a lasting first impression that drivers can be proud to be seen in, and features advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies. I believe this vehicle has broad appeal, especially for young families and millennials,” Narasimhan said.
Also on display is the Nissan Navara N-TREK Warrior concept vehicle that comes with a range of features (including parts and accessories) which improve both functionality and capability. Its many amenities include hoop less steel bullbar, underbody Protection, LED light bar, dark orange accented fog lamp bezel with integrated ‘bark buster’, unique 17-inch black alloy wheels, 32.2-inch Cooper all-terrain tires, and embroidered front headrest to name just a few.
Booth attendees will also get to see the all-new Nissan LEAF, the icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility that underscores Nissan’s leadership in the electrification of mobility. Rounding out the vehicles available at the booth are the Nissan Note, Nissan Terra and Nissan X-Trail – ensuring show attendees will be spoiled for choice. Select models including the Almera, LEAF and X-Trail will be available for customer test drives at the Expo.
In order to ensure that valued Nissan customers can buy the vehicle they love, the Nissan ‘Power of 0%’ promotion runs from now until 10 December 2019. It includes a 0% interest rate with complimentary three-year of Nissan Premium Protection first-class insurance on selected models. The promotion is available at the show and at all Nissan dealerships.
