BANGKOK, Thailand (September 25, 2017) – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has reached a new milestone with 150 million vehicles produced globally. It took 73 years for Nissan to produce its first 100 million vehicles after the company was founded in 1933, and another 11 years to build the last 50 million.

Thailand has, and continues to play, a role in this success. Since 2007, Nissan Thailand manufacturing operations have produced and exported over 900,000 units globally.  The facility in Thailand is one of major production hub for the company, and today produces approximately 73,000 units per year for global export - with more than 5,000 dedicated employees in Thailand contributing to this success.

“This is a major milestone for Nissan globally and the result of the dedication of all our staff, including those in Thailand, who have worked tirelessly to help Nissan reach this production milestone”, said Antoine Barthes, President, Nissan Motor Thailand Ltd.  “We are very proud of our global heritage as well as our investment in Thailand and its people. We are as committed as ever to the country today, and we are investing even more in the future by bringing our latest state-of-the-art vehicles like the new Nissan LEAF Electric Vehile to Thailand,” he added.

Nissan sees this achievement as the result of 84 years of continued support from all of its stakeholders worldwide, including employees, dealers, suppliers and local communities, as well as the numerous customers who have chosen cars produced by Nissan.

When Nissan reached the 100 million vehicle milestone in 2006, 76.5% of the total vehicles had been produced in Japan. Localization of production accelerated in the past 11 years, during which 76.5% of the 50 million Nissan vehicles were made outside Japan.

Following this latest milestone, Nissan remains ever more committed to delivering cars that always satisfy its customers.
