“The all-new Terra brings the freedom to drive on any road or in any weather conditions and, like Nissan’s SUV predecessors, is tough, rugged and built for these challenges along with a thoroughly modern design and level of comfort that appeals to all,” said Antoine Barthes, President, Nissan Thailand. “We are so proud to unveil the all-new Terra from its production base here in Thailand, cementing our growing position as the company’s production hub for Southeast Asia.”
The all-new Terra also marks the next step in delivering on Nissan’s mid-term business plan, Nissan M.O.V.E. 2022, under which Thailand committed to introducing new cars to meet customer needs, Barthes said. “For Thailand, this includes the all-new Terra and new Nissan LEAF within FY18, underscoring our commitment to making innovation accessible to more customers in the region.”
The all-new Terra brings more than 60 years of SUV heritage and, in Thailand, comes with a new 2.3-liter twin-turbo diesel engine, YS23DDTT, with a 7-speed automatic transmission. It features the best acceleration performance in its class, ensuring a smooth yet powerful drive, with 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.
This intelligent frame-based SUV also offers the latest Nissan Intelligent Mobility features and advanced technologies for safer and more confident driving. The all-new Terra is also the first frame-based SUV with Intelligent Rear View Mirror ( IRVM) that gives drivers unobstructed views from a rear-mounted camera. The Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD). These ensure maximum comfort for all vehicle’s occupants.
Along with all these safety technologies comes increased control. Its 4WD mode comes with Electronics DIFF lock system and Brake Limited Slip Differential (B-LSD). Hill Start Assist (HAS) and Hill Descent Control (HDC) help maintain speed control in steep driving conditions. Its top ground clearance, at 225 millimeters, reduces the risk of damage from rough, uneven roads or driving through flooded areas.
“This is a vehicle built in Thailand for Thailand and other Southeast Asia markets. Nissan’s total production capacity in Thailand is 370,000 units a year, and I expect the all-new Terra will become an integral part of our regional manufacturing success story,” Barthes said.
