BANGKOK, Thailand (August 28, 2020) – The newly launched all-new Nissan KICKS e-POWER compact SUV was created in the famous Nissan Global Design Centre in Japan. The unique vehicle was designed to suit active urban consumers, who enjoy a tech-savvy lifestyle, and bring to life Nissan’s new design concept.

The exciting model combines a number of design cues that link with Nissan's successful crossovers like Nissan Qashqai and Nissan Juke, but the designer’s unique interpretation gives it a style all of its own, that is harmonized with urban Thai consumer trends.  Nissan’s Program design director, Shinichiro Irie explains the inspiration behind the daring new design in this model powered exclusively by e-POWER technology.

“Young, urban car buyers are looking for vehicles that match their personality and stand out. Also they want to look and feel good. For Nissan Kicks e-POWER, what makes it appealing is this daring combination of dynamic proportions, sculptural effects and a modern body, feeling of advanced design with particular attention detail and high contrast two-tone color,” explained Shinichiro Irie, Nissan Program design director.

He illuminated several exterior design highlights that make the Nissan KICKS so appealing to a younger generation of urban singles and young families, in the 18 to 35 demographic. “If you look at the Nissan KICKS, you can see a sharp and vigorous character line from front to the side, with a distinctive front fender. This movement makes this car uniquely change from a sculpted and modern body side, to a muscular rear fender - which gives personality.”

The design of KICKS e-POWER also comes with more room and comfort for passengers, while the interior conveys a sleek design and connectivity that provides comfort and utilities to both driver and passengers. The compact SUV is created to perfectly respond to new generations of Thai car-buyers who enjoy an active multi-modal lifestyle and seamless technology.

“Connectivity is very important for the in-car user experience and it is the key element of interior design. Millennial buyers want their cars to be seamless with their technology like their phone, so that was our inspiration. We designed the display to be the central element of the dashboard and we highlighted it with high quality eye-catching material surrounding seamlessly around the infotainment system, to give this feel of ease,” says Irie. “What is memorable is also the advanced and luxurious design details. This gives the whole car an ‘intelligent and dynamic’ impression.”

Marking the Nissan KICKS uniquely is the eye-catching solid two-tone black and orange interior color scheme, accommodating younger consumers who are trending towards this more eye-catching combination, rather than traditional one-color schemes.

“The key component here is that a two-tone option provides more freedom to express a customer’s unique style. It’s a striking evolution of just a one tone car, that imparts modernism too. Furthermore, we have various body color palettes with which people can even more options to suit their car to their personality. And from a color design perspective, the two-tone color combination makes the car look sportier and provides a good overall look.”

This refined craftmanship is evident throughout the all-new KICKS' interior, earning the model a place on the '10 Best Interiors' at the New York International Auto Show by WardsAuto. For its impeccable attention to detail, high quality stitching and seamless instrument panel surfaces that are 'befitting a more expensive vehicle'.
