All-new Nissan Almera makes Asian debut in Thailand
Launch highlights stunning fresh design and new 1.0-liter turbo engine designed to challenge all beliefs about ‘intelligent urban’ sedans
BANGKOK, Thailand (14 November 2019) – Thailand was today the first country in Asia and Oceania to launch the all-new Nissan Almera, with its 1.0-liter turbo engine, as the perfect intelligent urban sedan.
Designed to be energetic, provocative, and engagingly modern, the vehicle was revealed at a world-class event titled “Challenge All Beliefs” in Bangkok – reflecting how the all-new Almera challenges all previously held ideas about sedans to give Thai consumers new levels of refinement and safety features.
“This launch of the all-new Nissan Almera is emblematic of the importance of Thailand for Nissan in the Asia and Oceania region. This additionally recognizes the global quality of our local manufacturing operations and employees,” said Yutaka Sanada, Nissan’s Asia and Oceania regional senior vice president. "This vehicle is set to challenge your beliefs around sedans and is a key step to provide our customers with new technologies.”
The Almera’s new, lighter 1.0-liter turbo engine, HRA0, delivers greater power and better fuel efficiency, with a maximum power output of 100 PS, torque of 152 Nm and fuel consumption of 23.3 kilometers per liter*. This results in better acceleration and better power output than previous generations of the Almera.
“The all-new Nissan Almera is an intelligent urban sedan positioned to win the hearts and minds of young Thai families and millennials,” said Ramesh Narasimhan, president of Nissan in Thailand. “It offers a top-class level of safety, innovation and space to meet the needs of all our valuable customers and ensure new car buyers can feel confident they do not have to compromise in their all-important first vehicle purchase.”
The launch event, designed to reveal the new concept for urban sedans, was held at Stadium Warehouse in Bangkok. The 5,600-square-meter space was completely retrofitted to create Almera Town, where all components including food, art installations and other creative elements were created to reinforce the theme of “Challenge All Beliefs.”
Some 600 guests were also able to view the all-new Almera in action, with 300 members of the media undertaking a nighttime test drive, involving multiple stations using the 12,000 square meters of space surrounding the warehouse.
“At Nissan, customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we are continually looking for new ways to best meet their needs and exceed their expectations,” said Adisai Sirisinha, Nissan’s vice president for marketing in Thailand. “When you see the all-new Nissan Almera with the many incredible changes we have made, you will understand why the launch theme is ‘Challenge All Beliefs,’ as this is not the Nissan Almera you think you already know.”
The new Almera incorporates a sleek, comfortable and spacious design that leaves a lasting first impression that drivers can be proud of, along with smart technologies that meet the needs of Nissan’s valued customers, especially young families and millennials.
The new design features lower, wider, and longer exterior dimensions using Nissan’s Emotional Geometry design language, while retaining the Almera’s roomy interior space. Key elements of the Emotional Geometry design language in the new Almera include the V-motion grille, boomerang-shaped headlamps and tail lamps, kick-up C-pillars, and a floating roof.
The new Almera’s interior has also been totally redesigned to accommodate a new instrument panel, infotainment screen, steering wheel and seats. The stylish passenger cabin features high-quality design and exemplary craftsmanship with head- and legroom to spare, retaining its reputation for best-in-class roominess.
Another area where the all-new Almera stands out is its Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies that provide front, side and rear safety monitoring and intervention. The exciting technology is a key component of Nissan’s vision of how vehicles are driven, powered and integrated into society.
Technology is a top priority in the Almera. Best-in-class safety innovations include Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. With four cameras on the front, rear and side of the vehicle, the new Almera offers Intelligent Around View Monitor and Moving Object Detection.
The NissanConnect multi-infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen Color Display Audio (AIVI) also keeps customers ahead of the curve by bringing infotainment, navigation, safety, security and more under a single platform, with seamless connection via smartphone.
The all-new Nissan Almera comes in five grade levels - S, E, EL, V and VL – and six dynamic colors: Radiant Red, Monarch Orange, Storm White, Black Star, Gun Metallic and Brilliant Silver. Pricing for the five Almera grade levels is as follows:
