The all-new Nissan LEAF makes its local debut, bringing world-class innovation to electrifying Thailand
Thai customers can now pre-order this global best-selling electric vehicle and the icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility
BANGKOK, Thailand (28 November 2018) – The all-new Nissan LEAF, the best-selling electric vehicle in the world and the icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, made its local debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2018 today.
Interested customers can reserve their all-new Nissan LEAF starting today at the cost of 1,990,000 million Thai baht for delivery in April 2019, and will receive a vehicle warranty for 3 years or 100,000 kilometers, an EV system warranty for 5 years or 100,000 km and a battery deterioration warranty for 8 years or 160,000 km. Currently, 33 certified dealers across the kingdom will also offer product information, skilled engineers and aftersales services.
“Bringing the all-new LEAF to Thailand further underscores Nissan’s vision for the future of mobility, which we believe will help move people to a better world, a world that is more electric, more connected and more autonomous. And we believe that the all-new Nissan LEAF will transform the way you drive and live,” said Antoine Barthes, president, Nissan Thailand.
The all-new LEAF is completely reinvented and showcases Nissan’s advancements in the areas of Intelligent Power, Intelligent Driving, and Intelligent Integration. It has a driving range of more than 311 km according to the NEDC standard, and is over 60% more efficient than the previous model per charge - allowing drivers to enjoy safer, longer and more comfortable journeys.
The new e-Powertrain gives the all-new Nissan LEAF 110 kW of power output and 320 Nm of torque with improved acceleration from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
Heading the all-new LEAF’s Nissan Intelligent Driving technology are e-Pedal, which lets drivers start, accelerate, decelerate, and stop using just one pedal by increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator. When the accelerator is fully released, regenerative and friction brakes are automatically applied, bringing the car to a complete stop — a revolutionary innovation that can forever change the way people drive up to 90% of your drive with only one pedal.
Another compelling standard innovative technology found in the all-new LEAF is the Nissan Safety Shield, which includes a broad set of advanced safety technologies including Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and Driver Alert Assist.
The all-new Nissan LEAF’s advanced exterior design features a sleek look including the signature boomerang-shaped lamps and V-motion flow up front. The flash surface grille in clear blue and the rear bumper’s blue molding, clearly identify it as a Nissan EV.
“With this all-new LEAF, our valued Thai customers will be able to own a piece of the future through the most advanced and accessible EV on earth. As the company pioneering breakthrough solutions to fundamentally enhance the city of the future, Nissan is re-thinking the car to be more than just a car,” Barthes said. “That vision includes our commitment to helping electrify Thailand. The launch here today is a core milestone of that joint effort between Nissan, the auto industry, the Thai government, and related agencies.”
As customers are at the heart of everything Nissan Thailand does, the launch of the new LEAF marks the next step in delivering on Nissan’s mid-term business plan, Nissan M.O.V.E. 2022, under which Nissan Thailand committed to introducing the right cars in the right segments to meet customer needs.
“The all-new LEAF is built upon over 70 years of electric vehicle heritage. This includes the 1947 Tama, Nissan’s first EV model. It is a total rethink of the driving experience, making a car more than just a car, and creating an exciting and more sustainable future for all,” Barthes added.
Deals like the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) of Thailand and Nissan underline the company’s commitment to ensuring that Thai LEAF owners have access to charging stations at home, at work, and on the road using an electric fee payment system – creating a new way of thinking about transportation that will help drive the electrification of Thailand.
“But this is only the beginning. The Royal Thai government, as part of its ‘Thailand 4.0’ initiative, is also pushing for smarter, stronger, more efficient mobility solutions and reliable electric systems to power the vehicles of tomorrow. Nissan will continue partnering with them on the electrification of the Kingdom,” Barthes said.
