Nissan Shares its Vision for the Next Five Years

BANGKOK, Thailand (May 17, 2018) – Nissan Motor (Thailand) has a strong plan and vision for the future – a plan that is closely aligned with Nissan’s global midterm plan launched in 2017 and known as M.O.V.E 2022.

Under its growth plan, Nissan expects to further grow its market share; improve its customer satisfaction ranking; and further leverage the benefits of its alliance.

“Nissan was the fastest growing automotive brands in Thailand last year, gaining 1.3 percentage points of market share to end the year with 6.9% share, and we have a strong vision to achieve sustainable growth going forward from now until 2022,” Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. President Antoine Barthes said.

Going forward, Nissan’s focus is to continue putting its valued Thai customers at the heart of everything it does, from the vehicles introduced to Thailand to its dealer investments. Thailand is also becoming increasingly important as one of the global growth drivers, regional production hubs, and as the regional headquarter for Nissan – all of which support the company’s future vision, Barthes said.

Nissan has invested more than 4.4 billion baht over the last four years and exported more than 880,000 vehicles over the past 10 years to more than 114 countries – a strong recognition of its production quality and which positions it well for the future, he added.

“Nissan has a strong plan and vision for the future, with our five-year vision closely aligned with Nissan’s global M.O.V.E 2022 focusing on Mobility, Operational Excellence, Value to Customers and Electrification,” Barthes said.

The company has recently launched two new vehicles – the Nissan Navara 2018 edition with Around View Monitor, the only pickup to offer this – as well as the GT-R, its super sports car, and will continue to drive synergies with Mitsubishi in the areas of purchasing, logistics among others.

A strong focus under the plan is on exceeding customer service expectations through dealership investments and improvements, including Nissan Retail Environmental Design Initiative (NREDI) showrooms to provide an exceptional customer experience and consistent global standards, and to continue driving electrification leadership in Thailand by introducing the new Nissan LEAF this fiscal year.

“Looking forward, Nissan expects steady total industry volume growth at 5% a year over the next five years based on current market conditions and, for our 2018 fiscal year (April 2018- March 2019), we expect total industry volume to increase to more than 950,000 units. In line with this positive outlook, I am confident that sales, market share and production volume will continue to grow,” Barthes said.
