Nissan continues the "Honor the King's Legacy" project in Thailand

BANGKOK, Thailand (October  11, 2018) – Nissan Thailand is extending its “Honor the King’s Legacy” project to show respect for the legacy and wisdom of Thai monarchs by supporting communities and projects championed by them.

In its second year, Nissan will emphasize community development through water and environmental management, and engage the public via a dedicated Honor the King’s Legacy Facebook page.

As water pollution is one of Thailand’s most pressing environmental issues, this year’s activities will focus on water and protecting the environment. Under the project, Nissan will bring together design institutes, media, university students, employees, local communities and non-governmental organizations to raise awareness about the need to preserve Thailand’s precious water resources.

“The Thai monarchs have always worked tirelessly to benefit local communities across Thailand, and Nissan is committed to supporting that. Access to clean water is a basic human need, and we will use social media to help educate communities on the importance of waste management, water resources, and conservation,” said Peter Galli, Nissan’s vice president of communications for Thailand

This extension of the project follows last year’s initiative that focused on ten highly qualified and unique individuals who had transformed their work and daily lives by following the teachings and guidance of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej during his long reign. The program highlighted the ten projects across Thailand run by the unique individuals under the late King’s economic sufficiency philosophy. Participants visited these projects traversing 1,500 kilometers to follow in the late King’s footsteps.

The “Honor the King’s Legacy” Facebook page will be used as the primary communication channel to create awareness about these activities. Nissan Thailand invites anyone who wants to be part of this initiative to ‘Like’ its Honor the King’s Legacy Facebook page
