Interbrand Names Nissan one of the Best Global Brands in 2017

BANGKOK, Thailand (October 18, 2017) – Nissan has ranked 39th in the latest Interbrand's ‘Best Global Brands’ study that names the world's most valuable brands in 2017 by estimated brand value.

The recent study estimates the value of the Nissan brand at US$11,534 billion, compared to last year when Nissan ranked 43rd with an estimated brand value of US$11,066 billion.

In the study, Interbrand cites Nissan's actions to improve brand value, centered around the company's Nissan Intelligent Mobility strategy. It also singles out the customer benefits Nissan has delivered, such as its autonomous driving technologies and electric vehicles. Interbrand has recognized Nissan as one of the world's most valuable brands for seven straight years.

In compiling the study, Interbrand looks at the investment and management of each brand as a business asset, considering financial performance, the role of brand in the purchase decision process, and the brand's strength.

The recognition reflects Nissan's renewed focus on its ‘Nissan Intelligent Mobility’ in the past year, when the company launched new products featuring the e-POWER series hybrid system and ProPILOT single-lane autonomous driving technology. The company also showcased Nissan Intelligent Mobility at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2017. Then on Sept. 6, Nissan unveiled its new Nissan LEAF, the second generation of the world's best-selling electric car.

Mr. Antoine Barthes, President, Nissan Motor Thailand Ltd, said his goal was to put the customer at the heart of everything the company did. “Here at Nissan (Thailand) Co., Ltd., we are committed to strong growth in the Thai market, which includes increasing our brand presence. As one of the major players in Thailand’s automotive sector, we are laser focused on meeting the needs of our Thai customers through providing an extensive range of Nissan vehicles in Thailand, he said.

“We recently announced our intent to bring the new LEAF to Thailand as we focus on the ‘Electrification’ of Thailand. As concerns about air quality and the environment grow, innovative Nissan solutions like e-POWER, and EVs like the LEAF, are essential to a smart, clean and sustainable driving future, without compromising affordability or driving pleasure,” Barthes said, adding that Nissan is continuously evolving its Electrification strategy and portfolio, with the goal of making this accessible, attractive, and convenient for all driving needs in all countries across the globe.

Nissan Motor Thailand also continues to invest locally, in its people, dealer partners, products and processes. It currently employs more than 5,000 dedicated people and operates two manufacturing plants that produce vehicles for sale locally and which are also exported globally.  As a production hub, Nissan Thailand has, since 2007, exported some 900,000 units globally manufactured at its Thai plants.

The company has also invested over $25 million USD in a new R&D facility in Thailand, which provides testing facilities for 90 countries globally.

“All of this is designed to ensure the happiness, satisfaction, and safety of our customers,” Barthes said.
